This sounds like an interesting project.  I have some huge files
that are around 1-2GB of rectangle data.  However, they are the  
property of LSI Logic.  But, I can run tests for you and help you
with the development.  Let me know if you're interested.

Technically, it should not be very difficult to generate a huge
random routing job or even a random layout, such as auto-generating
fill patterns over a large area, which should be able to aid in
debugging the method.
