I worked through a chip LVS and simulation without the missing area/perim
values being a major problem, although it was somewhat more difficult for
me because I was using annular transistors which don't extract correctly,
and I need those missing values to reconstruct the correct W and L for
the annular FETs.
   Still, I took the opportunity to look at the code again.  Oddly, the
code that generates the bad output in the .ext files has been around for
quite some time, at least back to version 6.5.1, where I never noticed
it happening before.  So some other change post-6.5.1 is causing this
code to be exercised.  I am still reasonably certain that my suggestion
for a fix last time is correct.  I'll try implementing it here and see
if any disasters occur.
