    Dear Haikun:
I suspect it may be an issue with irsim being intended for magic-7.2 as
opposed to magic-7.1. My main system is setup with magic-7.2.40.tgz &
irsim-9.6.6 and it is a RH8 system. I have the same setup on a VAIO laptop.
I am currently installing RH9 this weekend on one of my backup machines to
see if there are any hiccups with magic-7.2.40 or irsim-9.6.6. My suggestion
is that you try the latest magic, irsim and tclspice files as they are know
to work well with each other. Please look into that and tell us how you
    fare.

    Charles

p.s. I see you are in San Diego. I work in San Diego. If you cannot get it
working, we can get together in person some time and work on it.
