    Hi,

I've tried to find some answers in the man pages, but I even cannot really define my problem. I am a quite unexperienced unix user. I was trying to install Magic 7-1 (which I've downloaded from the Cornell side).

gmake config works fine (I think here we are using an HP11 environment, with HP/PA servers (... ?) I don't know who actually the system administrator is. I am a beginning PhD student and have my own account for installing something only)

gmake install gives the following (error ?) messages:

    "/bin/sh: windows: not found.
gmake[2]: *** No rule to make target `../utils/geometry.h', needed by `ext2sim.o'. Stop.
gmake[2]: *** No rule to make target `../utils/malloc.h', needed by `ext2spice.o'. Stop.
gmake[2]: *** No rule to make target `../utils/malloc.h', needed by `magicTop.o'. Stop.
gmake[2]: *** No rule to make target `../utils/hash.h', needed by `magicusage.o'. Stop.

gmake[2]: *** No rule to make target `../utils/hash.h', needed by `mpackMain.o'. Stop.
    "

Now, I am stuck. I don't know if the compilation is good (don't think so, because in /bin there is only an X11helper file) Which steps are necessary ot get a working Magic version ?

Any help or hint is welcome !

    Patrick

    ps:
I am thinking on trying Magic because it seems interesting to me. I would like to make some small circuits and the techfiles of Imec are changing sometimes. Actually everyone else is using Cadence here, but they only design transistor teststructures, no circuits, and they are not really using a design flow. I was curious if Magic and/or the community could help me with to use my own/ "independent" design flow.
