Dear Albert, > Magic gave me this warning: > CIF warning for array px36a_0 (instances of px36a): > cells are so small and close together that two > non-adjacent cells could have interacting CIF! In all the years that I've been doing layout, I have only seen magic screw up once when giving this error. What it means is that the cell width is narrower than the largest CIF grow or bloat distance, so it is possible, in theory, for some layer to be drawn on top of a cell two places over, where it may violate a design rule with respect to layers in that cell. On the other hand, often the largest grow/shrink rules apply to special layers like "pad" or "wide metal" layers. In fact, there are usually very few grow and bloat statements in CIF output rules, so one would expect that an error would be very rare. You have done the right thing, which is to visually inspect the GDS output around the cells where the warning was flagged, to make sure that nothing is amiss. > I also tried to output some demo layout in postscript format using the > standard scmos.tech27 technology file. I can see the file but gsview > can't read it. What do I need in order to see the postscript output file. I haven't tried gsview on the PS output. I know that ghostscript/ ghostview works. Does gsview provide any error diagnostics about why it couldn't read the file? Regards, Tim
