I agree that the problem should be solved in a way that does not produce a "caveat end-user". The end-user needs correct feedback. The idea that Jeff proposed sounds relatively easy to incorporate into magic, forcing contacts to be a multiple of the squares pitch or else flagging it as an error. The "exact-overlap" rule could be similarly extended to allow overlaps at multiples of the contact squares pitch, which would reduce the number of situations in which magic generates DRC errors where none exist. ---Tim
