Does anybody know exactly why "extres" exists as a post-processor rather
than simply as an option to "extract"?  Maybe it's because "extres" was
buggy and nobody bothered to track down the errors, or just because
someone knew how to write a simple post-processor and didn't want to
mess with the magic source.  Wouldn't it make sense to fold "extres" into
the extract code for the next release?
