Forgive me because this is a little off-topic for the MAGIC list, but I
believe a high proportion of subscribers are instructors for college
    VLSI systems courses.

What text do you use? I'm still using the great Weste&Eshraghian, but
it's 10 years old and getting dated (e.g., sections on the 22V10 PLA).
I've been looking through free samples of other texts provided by
publishers but nothing out there seems to do the same job as
    comprehensively (transistors to systems).

I'm assigning some readings in Dally&Poulton but they're not good by
themselves because they don't have much physical and systems design
    material.

I also really like the just-published collection "Design of High
Performance Microprocessor Circuits" by Chandrakasen/Bowhill/Fox but
it's too advanced for the intro course, maybe, and doesn't have any
    physical design material.

    Any recommendations?
