Several people have written to say that in order to get magic to compile on more recent Linux versions (Debian, SuSE, etc.), they had to get rid of the "-lbsd" link added to the GR_LIBS definition for linking into the libgraphics.o library. I took out the switch on my RedHat system, where the switch has never caused any problems before, and I still got a clean compile. Does anyone know of any Linux system which will fail to compile without that "-lbsd" switch? If not, we should remove it. On my RedHat system, the only contents of /usr/lib/libbsd.a are the routines "getpgrp" and "setpgrp" which are not used by magic. ---Tim
