I've only used the Manhattan geometry version of Magic, and that only on
one design so I'm no expert.

However... could some of the pathological benchmarks in Magic be from
imported 45 degree lines being split into a tight stair step?  Would the
new 45 degree tile fix this problem?

Just a thought.
