    For record, if you have problem to compile magic under a Linux OS,
you may want to try the magic7.1.5 source codes at
http://bach.ece.jhu.edu/~tim/programs/magic/archive/magic-7.1.5.tgz

This is the only version that didn't give me much trouble, except
that I have to turn readline off.

I would like to thank Eftychios Eftychiou for sharing his Redhat 7.2
binaries with me.
