I'm sorry for late reply. I'm not my office room but under education.
You must use gmake only.
If you don't have gmake, down load gmake 8.0 and compile it with SUN's "MAKE".
Refer to following link.

 If you're not familiar with source compilation, pre-compiled package also
available.
