Dear Anthony: I also use RedHat 8.0. When I compile magic, I usually go something like: cd /home/cad/magic-7.2.34 make clean make config (usually I select tcl and then X11, but openGL works fine also) make tcl make install-tcl Then when I run magic, I invoke it as magic -w This invokes the Tcl interpreter as a wrapper (thats the -w) around magic and creates pull-down menus which are very useful. Try this formula and let us know how you fare.
