For me, the "no rule to make target" problem was caused by a syntax error in one of the Makefile files. I believe it may have been in DEFS.MAK. One of the directory variables had a literal ":" at the end. I believe it was the CAD_HOME or CAD_DIR (or whatever) variable. This was causing Make to improperly interpret the target/prerequisite code in the Makefile anywhere that the wayward directory variable had been substituted into a target name.
