I am trying to study and understand some of the new LEF/DEF features in the latest magic release. Towards that end, I navigated to my /home/cad/vlsitech/vsclib where I have Graham's new cell library and invoked magic with the 0.25um technology file and tried a lef write and read cd /home/cad/vlsitech/vsclib magic -w -TSCN5M_DEEP.12 File->LoadLayout temp25 ///this is the iv1v0x05.mag file from Graham's vsclib lef writeall lef read temp25 At this point, only metal1 makes it. All the other layers, poly, nwell/pwell, ndiff, etc are gone. I can see a message from the LEF read program with three unknown keywords that might bear on the issue: LEF Read, Line 3: Unknown keyword "NOWIREEXTENSIONATPIN" in LEF file; ignoring LEF Read, Line 4: Unknown keyword "DIVIDERCHAR" in LEF file; ignoring LEF Read, Line 3: Unknown keyword "FOREIGN" in LEF file; ignoring There is one other issue I see so far and that is that when I take the box and select the entire cell there is a minor issue with Tcl. Although it selects, I get a message on the Tcl window that says: '.layout1.magic select: invalid command name " .cellmgr.box.view" ' even though the entire cell has been selected before the 'lef writeall' command. And of course, a 'def writeall' says : "Sorry, can't write DEF files at this time." Magic runs well, its just understanding the use of some of the newer features that is escaping me. And of course, since I dont know where to go, now is the chance for the group to tell me where to go. With Normal Saturday Confusion, Charles
