Hi Ronny, The MOSIS rule refers to the actual CIF/GDS "contact cut"---i.e., the size of the hole in the oxide between the layers. The Magic rule, on the other hand, refers to Magic's "contact macros" which include the necessary layer overhang on all sides, generally 1 lambda. 1 lambda to the left, 2 lambda hole, 1 lambda to the right---that's 4 lambda total. Say you have a metal2 contact (m2c, via) that is 4x4 in Magic. You can see the different CIF layers that are generated as follows: look at metal 1 ("Metal First") :cif see CMF clear it :feedback clear the contact cut itself .. it would be "CCA" for pdc :cif see CVA :feedback clear metal 2 ("Metal Second") :cif see CMS and so on...
