Hi, i vaguely remember the reason for the 2002a release -- adding stacked contacts to 2nd poly -- i was waiting to hear from the requester how well it worked before adding an entry to the beta/CHANGELOG file. (if you 'diff' the 2001a and 2002a techfiles, you'll see some cif statements like 'and-not CCE' that restrict where contacts to poly2 are processed (for technologies that have stacked contacts)). there are other superficial differences, mostly in the extraction coefficients, by virtue of having used more recent mosis parametric measurement files. also, the diff shows that the cif input rules were adjusted to try to improve the generation of symbolic stacked contacts from cif input, but they still often require editing to remove drc violations depending on how snapping goes. so in this case, both 2001a and 2002a are 'current'. as a rule, though, you should always check the 'beta/CHANGELOG' file for any new releases (listed first in the file). and you should always check for any update before submitting to Mosis. anyway, i'm getting close to releasing a new set of simplified, 'table driven' techfiles, within weeks i hope, altho they will probably be limited to 7.2 magic and above, in order to (try to) enforce 'wide-metal' spacing rules. /jeff Erwin J.
